Hello Dolly Bars

We've always loved Hello Dolly Bars (also known and as Seven Layer Squares). So whenever we are at a cafe and see them in the case we buy one. Each time we have one I think to myself "I wish I could make these at home, but I bet they are difficult". I finally worked up the nerve to try making these bars and I am happy to announce that they are easy to make.

Hello Dolly Bars

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs

10 tbsp butter, melted

1 cup pecan pieces

1 cup mini milk chocolate chips

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cups coconut, shaved flakes

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.

3. Mix together graham cracker crumbs and melted butter.

4. Evenly pat mixture into the prepared baking pan.

5. Sprinkle pecan pieces evenly over the crumb mixture.

6. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips evenly over the pecan pieces.

7. Pour the sweetened condensed milk out evely over the chocolate chips.

8. Sprinkle coconut evenly over the top of the poured milk.

9. Bake bars in the oven for 30 minutes. Turn the broiler on high and toast the top for 2 minutes.

10. Remove pan from the oven and let cool in the pan on a cooling rack.

11. Once the bars are completely cool you can cut them into squares. (We're a bit impatient so I cool the bars in the pan on a wooden block in the fridge)

**Store cut bars in the fridge to keep them from going soft.
