Chocolate Brownies with Chocolate Fudge Buttercream

This is by far the best from scratch brownies I have ever made.

From my kitchen to yours:

Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

2/3 cup butter, softened

1/2 tsp vanilla

2 eggs, beaten

1/2 cup flour

2/3 cup cocoa powder

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped nuts, chocolate chips, smarties or reeces pieces (optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Cream sugar and butter together until smooth

3. Beat in vanilla and eggs and mix until smooth

4. In seperate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt

5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, wiping down the sides of the bowl

6. Fold in 1/4 cup of chopped nuts, chocolate chips, smarties or reeces pieces

7. Pour batter into a lined 8x8 inch pan and smooth out evenly

8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chopped nuts, chocolate chips, smarties or reeces pieces

9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes

10. Allow brownies to cool slightly in pan and then transfer to a cooling rack

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream

Ingredients:

1/3 cup butter

1 cup chocolate chips

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

3 cups icing sugar

5 tbsp milk

Directions:

1. Melt down butter and chocolate chips

2. Sift together salt and icing sugar

3. Using mixer blend melted chocolate into icing sugar mixture

4. Add vanilla and milk and blend until smooth

5. Pour over the top of the brownies and let set
